Pokemon Diamond & Pearl are two new games that recently came out in Japan on September 8, 2006. It has not yet come out anywhere else, but people are predicting it will come out in early-spring 2007 in the US.

Update: Pokemon.com has just announced that the English version of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl is coming out in the U.S. on April 22, 2007! More updates to come.

Here are some basic facts about Pokemon Diamond & Pearl:

• Pokemon Diamond & Pearl feature a whole new 4th generation of Pokemon, containing 107 new Pokemon! It is set in a region called Shinou.
• The male and female Pokemon of the same species now look different. There will be more information on that soon.
• Connects to Pokemon Battle Revolution.
• The Day/Night feature from Pokemon Gold/silver/Crystal is back in this game. As well as hoothoot only appearing at night, etc.
• The new Pokemon include lots of evolutions and pre-evolutions of old Pokemon.
• You can transfer your Pokemon from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald to these games after you get the National Pokedex. However, this is a permanent transfer, and you can't transfer the Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl back to your GBA games.
• Of course, the Pokedex has a different look and adds a new feature to the weight and height comparison feature. You can enter you own weight and height to compare to the Pokemon you are looking up.
• Voice Chat, over the Nintendo WiFi Connection.
• You have a watch called a Poketch. (This is something like a pokenav.) It has over 20 features, including time, type chart, doodle pad, and lots more.

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl is the first adventure/role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. This game is taken place in a new region, called Shinou, and there will be a whole new generation of Pokemon. That brings the total number of Pokemon in the National Pokedex to 493!

Pokemon Diamond & Pearl's new 4th generation of Pokemon includes evolutions of old Pokemon (e.g. Magmar and Electabuzz's evolutions, Buuburn and Elekible) and pre-evolutions of old Pokemon (e.g. Chansey and Snorlax's pre-evolutions, Pinpuku and Munchlax).
